Nonnie Talks About Mental Health Workshop
This 2-hour workshop targets parents, trusted adults, teachers, counselors, therapists, and other professionals working with children and young people. It includes a choice of a digital or print copy of the book, Nonnie Talks about Mental Health (a $24.99 value on Amazon).
The Nonnie SeriesTM looks at complicated issues adults often fail to communicate with children. Its reading level is 3rd – 8thgrade, but younger children and older young people in focus groups reacted well to the messages. The Nonnie Talks about Mental Health story begins with a college-aged student who survives an attempt to take his own life. Nonnie talks with the two main characters, Tamika and Alex, and answers their questions about mental health, with an emphasis on removing mental health stigma and modeling counseling as a choice for health and well-being.
